On the 9th of December at 11pm, Santa's sleigh crash-landed on Redscope Primary School’s fields.

The reindeer were scattered all around the field and Santa was frantically trying to round them up.

Santa was in Kimberworth checking his naughty list.

Due to a lack of Christmas spirit, he was unable to get the sleigh airborne again.

Unfortunately, Santa had to leave Dancer and Prancer behind for the children to look after until he could make a return journey.

Angela Hanson witnessed that Santa’s sleigh had broken down.

Large skid tracks could be seen on the field and were consistent with the size of a large sleigh.

Flashing lights were shining on caretaker Mr Johnson’s window at around 11pm and bells could be heard jingling.

Other residents of Kimberworth Park witnessed the huge loud, bangs and crashes.

Mr Johnson said: “Nearly all of the neighbourhood woke up because of all the noise and bangs, crashes, squeaking sounds and many more.

“Pretty much everyone was really tired by the time the noise had stopped.”

Reindeer Wreckage:

In the morning all parents had a text to say that the KS2 gates were locked. All of the children had to walk though the KS1 doors which was confusing for everyone but all the children managed it.

The children soon spotted a trail of carrots on the floor on the school corridor. Mrs Dobbin, the headteacher, told us that the reindeer had eaten all of the carrots that were going to be used for the school’s Christmas dinner.

In the KS1 girls toilets, Mrs Walpole reported that there was missing toilet water.

Mr Pashley, another caretaker, had to sort out all the toilets and put more   water in them.

Reindeer Rescue:

Mrs Dobbin called a farming expert for reindeer to make sure that they were safe for children to look at and stroke.

Throughout the day year by year from Foundation Stage to Year 6 went out onto the school yard to visit the reindeers.

One delighted Year 5 child said: “It was absolutely amazing to see the reindeer. I had never seen one before. It was my best Christmas Day ever.” Even the teachers could not believe their eyes!

Mrs Mason told us that it was a magical experience that she would always remember.

In Conclusion:

After all the food thefts the children wondered if the reindeer would get their just desserts.

Despite the missing food the children loved looking after the reindeer for Santa.

Ho-ho-hopefully the children can get the reindeer safely back to Santa before Christmas.

Redscope Reindeer Rescue

by Morgan Myers and Ella Bowns

Last night on 9th of December an unexpected and rare experience took place at Redscope Primary School.

Santa came around in order to check his naughty list and accidentally crash landed onto the school’s field making a thunderous bang.

All eight of his reindeer were scattered across the school field and were proudly galloping away.

A mysterious looking man gathered up the reindeer, however unfortunately two of the reindeer got left behind so Redscope Primary School children were asked to look after them.

The Midnight Mystery

Last night Kimberworth Park residents were awoken by a mysterious bright light and a loud boom.

Mr Johnson, the caretaker of Redscope Primary School, witnessed the scene that followed: “I quickly ran onto the school field thinking it was some joy riders but with a blink of an eye I saw eight beautiful reindeer scattered across the school field.

“An elderly man was rounding as many reindeer as he could.

“Two got left behind which we now know were dancer and Prancer.”

The police were called and were very happy for the school to look after the two remaining reindeer.

Neighbours, who woke up with a bright light, thought it was a dream.

Opening their eyes, they realised it was a once in a lifetime experience.

Reindeer Rampage

The two reindeer that were left at Redscope Primary School somehow made their way into the building and started to scavenge round for food and water. Mr Pashley, another caretaker, explained to Mrs Dobbin, the headteacher: “KS1 toilet water had gone.

“I guess the reindeer must have been very thirsty they must have been very hungry scavengers because all the carrots and a couple of mince pies were gone from the kitchen, too.”

Reindeer Rescue

Mr Johnson and Mrs Pashley worked hard to make sure that the reindeers were safe and well.

The office then sent a mysterious message to parents, saying everyone had

to go through the main entrance.

As the children entered the building they were alarmed to see nibbled carrots scattered on the floor.

Straight away, they realised that something unusual had happened.

To make sure the reindeer were safe the school called well trained farmers to check to see if Redscope pupils were looking after the creatures well enough. Straight away they suggested blue paper on the windows covering them up so the children didn’t scare them.

Throughout the day, every single class got to go and see the reindeer. Everyone thought that they were fascinating and just could not believe their eyes.

Overall, by lunchtime, the reindeer had gone and all the school residents had seen them.

The school cooks speculated that the creatiures might be looking for a desert next.

Mrs Dobbin told us that it was one of the most amazing experiences of her life.

The school ho-ho-hope the reindeer get back to Santa in time for Christmas.  The school community were left wondering: “What elf would happen next?”
