‘I think many of you should volunteer too’

I’M Melissa and I’m 15-years-old, and today I’m going to tell you about what my work experience has been like at RotherFed.

For those who haven’t heard of it, RotherFed works with local communities, such as the Harley Gala, which they do in order to make your community a better place.

They bring in volunteers from all over Rotherham to organise these events and talk about how they can improve this area.

I’ve been doing work experience here for the past two weeks now and I’ve seen how much hard work the staff put into RotherFed.

They did an event last week, the Open Minds Theatre Group came to perform, and this group is a bunch of disabled actors who put together numerous performances to show their experiences.

And the plays they performed at RotherFed were about their experiences of bullying, and performances displayed that bullying could take place anywhere like a park or a nightclub, and the different forms it can take, such as teachers pushing students out or people taking advantage of others’ vulnerability.

This show had a big turn out and both actors and the audience enjoyed it thoroughly.

RotherFed do many other events, and I have volunteered to help out in the future, as this place needs more youngsters, so I think many of you should volunteer too.
