Historic farmhouse should be saved

Holywell Farm at Kilnhurst should have a historic blue plaque placed on it as the former home of the renowned sculptor Charles Sargeant Jagger and his equally talented brother and sister, portrait painter David and Edith.

Instead, its current owner has applied for planning permission to pull it down and replace it with a modern house. We are powerless to prevent this as the building is not listed as being important enough. (We are just publishing the September issue of the Rotherham FHS Journal and by a strange coincidence it contains an article about the Extraordinary Jagger family and I have photos taken of the WW1 memorial at Hyde Park which is the work of Charles.)
