Blocking road will create chaos

Re: Closure of Broom Avenue: The loonies in the Environment and Development Services Directorate are having a laugh with this latest decision.

The Middle Lane South\Wickersley Road junction is already a very bad junction, especially at busy times when you have cars coming down Wickersley Road towards town and then queuing to turn right down Middle Lane making it extremely difficult for people turning right from Middle Lane South onto Wickersley Road. Not only that, but it is very dangerous turning left out of Middle Lane South when you have a car waiting to turn right as you have to edge so far out to be able to see oncoming traffic.

The loonies in the department have just made it a LOT worse and a lot more dangerous. I’m guessing a councillor lives on one of the roads that have been blocked off.

The results of this moronic idea will be:

1 To have traffic backing up down Middle Lane South.

2 More accidents at the Middle Lane South\Wickersley Road junction due to people  turning right from Middle Lane South onto Wickersley Road.

3 More accidents at the Middle Lane South\Wickersley Road junction due to people edging forward when turning left out of Middle Lane South while there is a vehicle waiting to turn right.

4 More accidents at the Wickersley Road\Broom Lane junction due to people turning right onto Wickersley Road at busy times.

5 More accidents at the Wickersley Road\Broom Lane junction due to people turning right onto Wickersley Road. These are the people coming from the hospital or Oakwood School for example, who would normally come up Brunswick Road and then go down Beechwood Road or Oakwood Drive to get to Middle Lane South.

6 To have traffic backing up from the Stag Island down as far as, if not not beyond, Middle Lane South. This will be due to people that would have gone to Worrygoose via Broom Avenue.

Whichever way you look at this it will cause more congestion and more accidents at these two already busy and dangerous junctions, it's just the latest in a line of moronic ideas by the roads planning Dept. at RMBC.

I live on Tennyson Road and quite frankly I am sick and tired of people using it as a ‘Road’ to get from A-B. I quite often have to wait for cars to go past when I'm coming out of my drive. How do I apply to have Tennyson Road blocked off to prevent these people using it as a road?

Let’s be honest, Rotherham was not designed very well at all with the vast majority of the roads leading somewhere, I mean how stupid is that?

The people of Broom Avenue should have told to stick it where the sun doesn't shine or move house. Streetpride and the roads dept. should spend their time and money repairing the fourth world roads we have in Rotherham instead of supporting more and more of these stupid ideas.

I believe Ice Road Truckers were going to film in Rotherham next year, but the roads were just too poor and dangerous so they will be returning to South America and the Himalayas.
