YES! project boss quits

THE chief executive of Oak Holdings has resigned in the wake of the company’s YES! Project being dumped by Rotherham Borough Council.

Steve Lewis had been at the helm throughout the London-based firms involvement in planning the £350 million indoor leisure venture next to Rother Valley Country Park.

Councillors delivered a no verdict to YES! in January after concerns that Oak could not raise sufficient funds to get started on the former Pithouse West site.

Mr Lewis said his skills could no longer be effectively employed by the business in light of the project’s termination.

The borough council remains optimistic of finding an alternative developer for the 320-acre YES! Project site.

Despite the disappointment, Oak has won praise from councillors for its running of the country park since 2009.
