Woodhead Mountain Rescue team joins hunt for missing Baden

MOUNTAIN rescue teams are assisting police in their search for a 71-year-old missing man.

A number of volunteers from Woodhead Mountain Rescue were helping officers and dog handlers searching for Tinsley pensioner Baden Powell.

Mr Powell has not been seen since he discharged himself from hospital at around 3pm on Sunday  following treatment for head injuries sustained in a fall.

It is understood that he may have attempted to reach his home in Tinsley on foot.

This afternoon search teams were combing an area of woodland near to Oakwood Technology College.

Mr Powell is described as a white man, about 5ft 8ins tall, with a medium build.

He has grey hair, thinning on top, and a grey and brown beard and as wearing a brown, three-quarter length duffle coat at the time he disappeared.

Anyone with information about Mr Powell’s whereabouts should contact police by dialling 101, quoting reference number KX/802/2012.
