Joanne Wehrle, education manager for the Safer Roads Partnership, said the event was geared to existing female riders, who are either seeking more training, or to those women who are considering taking up motorcycling for the first time.

She said: “We know that more and more people, including women, are taking up powered two wheelers for a variety of reasons.

“Some use them to commute to work - saving them both time and money, while others view motorcycling purely as a leisure activity.

“Whatever the reason and irrespective of whether you are an experienced or a novice rider, extra training is always a good idea and the Partnership is there to help with that.

“This event will give all female riders the opportunity to see what advice and help is available across the county."

The Lady Bikers’ Day will run from 10.30am until 3.30pm and is free to all attendees.

The event will also see the British Superbike School, based at the Blyton Park Driving Centre at Gainsborough, in attendence to answer any questions if any rider is considering a track day.

Several female rider groups, such as the South Yorkshire Lady Bikers and the local branch of the Curvy Riders, will all also be attending the event with their information stands.

They will be joined by female riders from the South Yorkshire branch of the White Knights, the charity couriers for the NHS.
