Woman injured in heater fire

A 35-year-old woman suffered a burn to her hand when an electric heater caught fire.

Firefighters were called to her Josephine Road home, in Holmes, at 6.15pm yesterday.

They ventilated the property and advised the woman to attend hospital for treatment.

It is thought an item of clothing or towel may have been placed on the heater.

A fire service spokesman said: “Our advice is never to put anything on top of heaters which could catch fire.”
