“He was an enthusiastic motorcyclist and a member of the A1 Scooter club in Doncaster.

“He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all that knew him.”

Police are now appealing for information about the incident that happened at the junction with Milner Gate.

Mr Shephard was travelling towards Doncaster on Doncaster Road on his brown Vespa Piaggio when it is believed that a silver VW Polo driven by a 62-year-old woman pulled out of a junction and into Mr Shephard’s path.

The woman, also from Conisbrough, was not injured.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or the manner of driving and riding of the vehicles prior to the incident is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1056 of October 7.
