WENTWORTH & DEARNE

John Healey (Labour) - Mike Hookem (UKIP) - Michael Naughton (Conservatives)

John Healey (Labour)

I’m proud to serve as your Labour MP. I hope you’ll judge me on my record of standing up for our area and putting local people at the heart of my work in Parliament.

I was voted Constituency Campaigner of 2014 out of the country’s 650 MPs.

You might have read about some of the campaigns I’ve won, like changing the law so more mums can get maternity leave, stopping the Government using rip-off 0845 numbers for public helplines and getting justice for sacked Tesco drivers. Locally, I’ve won campaigns with residents to protect bus services, limit speeding outside schools, save hearing advice for elderly people and stop Wath Children’s Centre from closing.

When people have a problem, I do all I can. Last year I dealt with nearly 3,000 individual issues and cases and I’ve always run a full-time office – in the constituency, for constituents.

I want to continue working for you. I’ll work with all to restore pride in our town, and I’ll fight for more jobs and investment in Rotherham, and to defend our NHS and public services. This election is a straight choice – five more years of Tories standing up for the richest, or a Labour government that will work for everyone. The UKIP leader says his MPs will prop up Cameron in power.

From raising the minimum wage to £8 an hour and scrapping the bedroom tax, to freezing energy bills and saving the NHS, only Labour will change our country for the better.

I’m a Yorkshire man from a working class background. My dad worked in the fishing industry and my mum was a traditional housewife.

I served in the armed forces before becoming a small businessman, so I’m not a career politician. Until I joined UKIP, I’d had no direct involvement in politics and had always voted Labour, as was expected of me.

However, I grew increasingly tired of the traditional parties’ broken promises and felt I needed to do something to bring change. I’m standing in Wentworth & Dearne to bring much needed change.

From the horrific bedroom tax and the “green” levies so unfairly imposed on our household fuel bills; to the lack of local investment; the folly of green field building programmes and the shortage of good job opportunities for our children, I understand the issues the people of this area face.

UKIP are committed to protecting our NHS by investing an extra £3 billion a year into frontline services; providing investment for our schools that will give our children real opportunities; rebuilding our overstretched defences and investing in policing to bring back the rule of law.

More than ever, Wentworth & Dearne needs someone who will work for the people of the area, rather than to a party agenda. Through listening to you as my employer, and working to your needs, I will get a better deal for you, as I am determined to build a better future for us all.

Michael Naughton (Conservatives)

The people of Wentworth and Dearne deserve an MP who stands up for our concerns and fights for us. If you vote for me, that’s the MP I will be.

I was born and raised in Rotherham. I care about our town and want to make it better for all.

I have a strong track record of working for our community, from running youth groups in Rotherham to serving our country abroad.

If you elect me as your MP, I will fight for: affordable, high quality housing, so more families can set up and get on; fairer and lower taxes, so we keep more of our own money; better education, with all of our schools rated good or outstanding by 2020. Our children deserve the best.

If you agree with these three pledges, vote for me next week.

Like you, I care about our community and want to ensure we all enjoy an even better future.

If you give me the chance I will fight to help you and your family get on in life.
