Weekend could be snowy for Rotherham

FORECASTERS are predicting a wintry weekend in Rotherham, with a very good chance of some snowfall.

Following weeks of mild weather, The Met Office expects temperatures to dip to just 2 deg C at 11am on Saturday. Factoring in a 5mph wind, this may feel as cold as 0 deg C.

At noon a 6mph wind means it could feel like -1 deg C. The chance of precipitation will rise to 95 percent and conditions will be ideal or snow.

By 1pm winds could hit 7mph, with felt temperatures dropping to -2 deg C and snow still 90 percent likely.

The forecaster has issued a severe weather warning for Yorkshire on Saturday, indicating conditions with the "potential to cause danger to life or widespread disruption".
