Vigilant citizen helps police seize drugs and cash

A CONCERNED member of the public helped police to seize £1,000-worth of drugs and a “large quantity” of cash after reporting two for men acting suspiciously.

Officers received a call from the vigilant citizen on Tuesday afternoon, describing two men who were behaving strangely on Claremont Street, Kimberworth.

Police attended and chased the men through streets and gardens before catching them and seizing the cash and drugs. Officers then conducted a house search where more cash was found.

The two men aged, 23 and 27 were arrested on suspicion of dealing drugs.

PC Jon Revill from the Rotherham North Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “This is a great example of how the public can help the police catch offenders.

“Without the information from the member of public, we wouldn’t have known these two men were in the area.

“I would urge anybody with information or who suspects suspicious behaviour to always contact the police.”

The two suspects have not yet been named by police.
