TWO fire engines were still at the scene of the Universal Recycling blaze in Kilnhurst this morning (Monday).

Damping down continued after the blaze on Sunday afternoon, when 60 firefighters attended the scene on Wharf Road.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: “The specialist vehicles we had on site last night included detection and monitoring equipment, a high volume pump and a turntable ladder.

“We were also assisted by South Yorkshire Police, Yorkshire Ambulance Service Hazardous Response Team, Public Health England and the Environment Agency.”

A multi-agency investigation would take place to determine the cause of the fire, the spokeswoman added.
