Vicar building church hall brick by brick

A VICAR is urging villagers to “buy a brick” to help raise the £184,000 needed for a new church hall.

Rev Andy Brewerton, the vicar of Kilnhurst’s St Thomas’ Church, said that the fund-raising campaign for the new hall was in full swing, with more than 500 bricks already paid for by residents stumping up £5 a time.

Now he wants more Kilnhurst folk to dig deep to help provide much-needed community facilities.

Mr Brewerton said that he hoped up to £25,000 couple be raised with the Brick by Brick campaign, with 5,000 bricks being sold off.

He said that the bulk of the money would come from applications to grant authorities and trust funds but that the church still needed help.

The new hall would provide an entrance with a disabled ramp, a new kitchen and toilet facilities and 65 sq m of new meeting space.
