ROTHERHAM is being warned to brace itself for a blast of arctic weather with heavy snow forecast for later this afternoon.

The Met Office has forecast heavy snow from 3pm until 9pm when it will turn to light snow.

Tonight's temperature is expected to plummet to -2 °C.

Friday's forecast shows cloud but no further outbreaks of snow.

Weather warnings for ice however remain for today and tomorrow with forecasters urging drivers to be aware of hazardous driving conditions.
