Two rescued from Brinswotrh fire

TWO MEN were rescued from a fire after control room staff advised them over the phone about how to keep safe until firefighters arrived.

The men were given fire survival guidance by a 999 operator when they were unable to get out of their home in Brinsworth on Friday morning.

A fire service spokesman said: “Three fire engines from Rotherham and Darnall stations were called at 2.30am to the house on Brinsworth Grange.

“The door area of the house was on fire and the rest of the property was smoke logged.

“The two men, on advice from control staff, were both in the front first floor bedroom.  

“Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and then led the men down and safely out of the property.”

Both men suffered slight smoke inhalation and were treated by paramedics at the scene.

Fire crews left the scene just after 3.30am and investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
