Roadworks at Whiston crossroads ...again

WORKMEN have moved in to carry out four weeks of repairs and maintenance on a stretch of road where a £7 million makeover was completed less two years ago.

Motorists have being warned of possible delays as the A631 West Bawtry Road between Whiston crossroads and the Rotherway roundabout is treated to a facelift.

The works, which started on Sunday and will last until August 27, will include installing extra pedestrian signage and guard rails plus new bollards to indicate cycleways, and a new drainage gully on the Rotherway roundabout.

The maintenance scheme also includes grass cutting, gully cleaning, road markings and some repointing of the retaining wall.

The works are being carried out together to ensure minimum disruption to road users and taking advantage of the holiday period when traffic flows are at their lowest.

A council spokeswoman said: “There will be no road closures during the works but some traffic movements will be restricted at Whiston crossroads on Sundays only and there will be lane closures on West Bawtry Road.

“All diversion routes will be clearly signed, and although drivers using them will obviously experience delays, we anticipate that generally, delays will be small.

“Access to all residential properties in the area will be maintained at all times throughout the works.”
