Road closure: motorists warned of ice on main link road

Motorists are being warned that a main route linking Rotherham and Barnsley is closed.

The B6089 Packman Road between West Melton and Nether Haugh has been closed for health and safety reasons after the overnight weather conditions froze excess water on the carriageway.

Streetpride workers from Rotherham Borough Council are trying to halt the water flow but until then motorists are being diverted through Rawmarsh, Swinton and Wath.

The road will not re-open today - The Council are working closely with the owners of Wentworth Estates to ensure that the situation is resolved as speedily as possible.
