Review launched of Bramley one-way system

COUNCIL officers are to “take a further look” at whether Bramley’s hated one-way system can be scrapped.

Former member Peter Thirlwall asked Rotherham Borough Council’s last meeting if cash from new developments could be put towards returning it to two-way.

He suggested that Section 106 and community infrastructure levy (CIL) money attached to planning applications be used to reverse the “ill-conceived” traffic system, installed ten years ago.

Cllr Denise Lelliott, advisory Cabinet member for housing and the local economy, said: “I will ask officers to take a further look at it.”

Mr Thirlwall said: “I have a theory that if you never give in you have never lost and that is why I am persisting in trying to highlight the injustice of introducing the one-way traffic system.”
