New road layout is dangerous

IS it just me or does anyone else find driving on Broom Road especially in the rush hour a bit nerve racking since the new road layout?

It takes a bit of negotiating, especially near the hospice where the road appears to  narrow and traffic on the opposite side travelling into Rotherham has a tight manoeuvre round cars parked near the kerb, therefore I find myself moving into the bike lane to allow them to get by. I’m aware that all traffic users have to read the road ahead but this is more like the Grand Prix!

Then there is the concern that someone may be travelling in the bike lane and the worry of children crossing to Rudston  School. It’s a relief to get to the Homestead where suddenly there’s wide road and safer conditions.

I can’t imagine how people living on Broom Road get their cars out of their drives in a morning — they must get up at dawn!

What was wrong with the old layout?

These days there is more traffic on the roads and much larger vehicles, so why on earth narrow road lanes on such a busy road?

Can someone enlighten me?
