Tory tweet ruffles Labour feathers

TORY parliamentary candidate Lynda Donaldson riled Labour opposition after a “misleading” post on Twitter.

The Rother Valley hopeful visited Tesco in Dinnington last Friday, and then said on the social networking website: “Where were Labour?”

Labour candidate Kevin Barron said his group had been leafleting there half an hour earlier, and he had even spoken to Cllr Donaldson before they left.

“It was misleading,” he added. “I wouldn’t want people reading her Twitter site and thinking that we hadn’t done the same and spoken to the people there, before the Conservatives arrived.”

Cllr Donaldson said the irony of her message had been missed by her Labour rival.

She went back to the supermarket the following day and Tweeted: “I cannot believe how many Conservative shoppers there are here.”

General Election candidates announced.
