Thrill seekers will speed to new £1.5m go-karting centre

MOTORSPORTS enthusiasts and thrill seekers in Rotherham will be revved up by the news of a new £1.5 million go-karting centre on their doorstep.

Planners have given the green light to the new state of the art indoor racing centre, which will be run by motorsport firm TeamSport.

The race track, due to open next January on Shepcote Lane in Tinsley, will be the company’s 19th venue and is expected to bring thousands of new visitors to the town every year.

Up to 40 full and part-time jobs will be created, the operators said.

Two industrial units which are currently empty will be brought back to use with a multilevel indoor go-kart track that will provide over 800m of nail biting bends, exhilarating long straights and ramps for up to 20 karters to race around at any one time.

Dominic Gaynor, managing director of TeamSport, said: “We are really excited to have secured a prime location close to the Meadowhall Centre.

“The great location and our excellent value karting offers will ensure karting is accessible to everyone looking for an adrenaline fuelled, fun day out.”

The venue is expected to feature free parking, racing facilities for children as young as eight, a licensed bar and conference facilities.”
