Teens rewarded for their efforts

Young people using the Dearne Valley Personal Development Centre were handed certificates after completing NCFE qualifications, covering health and fitness, nutrition, art and teamwork.

Guests also had the chance to view the artwork produced during this year’s courses.

Mexborough councillor Sean Gibbons said: “All of the young people who attend the centre have found it difficult to fit into mainstream education so the learning programme at Dearne Valley PDC has been tailored to meet their specific needs. 

“The centre aims to create a positive pathway back into mainstream education or college by providing an alternative curriculum, that will re-engage the most challenging learners.  

“The Dearne Valley team would like to thank the guests and local people who attended the night and who have supported the project form the start.”
