Taxi drivers threaten Rawmarsh boycott

TAXI drivers are threatening to boycott Rawmarsh because of youths throwing stones at their cabs.

One driver who contacted the Advertiser said he needed a whole new door because of the damage.

He added: “It’s been happening for about five weeks, between 11pm and 1am at weekends.

“It’s happening to several drivers and it’s very dangerous to us and our customers.

“If one of these rocks comes through the window, anything could happen.

“We want people alerted to this because when it was happening a few years ago we put something in the Advertiser and Record and things improved.”

Police have been made aware of the issue, which is mainly in the High Street and Bellows Road areas.

The driver, who asked not to be named, added: “If it gets worse, then we will have to stop working in that area.”
