Swinton aims to stamp out dog poo

COUNCILLORS have stepped in to try and clear up on-going dog poo problems once and for all.

Swinton ward members have responded to concerns from residents over ‘foul play’ by providing free dog waste bags to be handed out from the town’s library and customer service centre.

Boxes of the bags have been paid for through the councillors’ Community Leadership Fund and will be available during library opening hours.

Cllr Ken Wyatt said: “We have had a number of complaints about dog fouling, in particular along school routes.

“All people are asking is that dog walkers please be responsible, pick up after your pet rather than leaving the mess on the footpath for someone else to tread in.

“A child could take this into school on their shoes.”
