Steak prize for Rachel

ARTIST Rachel Lewis really will have to eat all the pies after being crowned the winner of a competition run by Eric Twigg Foods.

As well as £200 cash, Rachel has won her height in Pukka Pies after judges picked her drawing as the best.

Rachel’s piece turned Rotherham United’s New York Stadium into a deep-filled pie, with a row of shops instead of the stand.

Eric Twigg Foods commissioned art project Gallery Town to run the competition as part of the Parkgate business’s 50th anniversary.

Managing director Matthew Twigg said: “We were really pleased with all the entries we received, but Rachel’s stood out to us.

“It appealed to our connections not only in football stadia, but also covered the other diverse aspects of our business and the industries that we cover.

“She is a worthy winner and I’m sure she’ll enjoy her height in pies — just not all at once, hopefully.”

Rachel, of Wath, will now exhibit her work with Rotherham Society of Artists at the Open Up event at Westgate Chambers, Westgate.

The exhibition will run from 11am until 4pm this weekend (tomorrow until Monday) and May 7 and 8.

Gallery Town project manager, Ged Omar, said; “It’s great to see established local businesses supporting the project through unique initiatives like this.

“The competition was lots of fun and the funds raised from Eric Twigg Foods will help towards regenerating the town centre.”
