Stately home does the business for networking event

DOZENS of businesses shared their wares at during a high-profile networking event at Rotherham’s most iconic stately home.

Local firms laid out around 50 stalls in and around Wentworth Woodhouse for the Chamber Means Business networking event last Wednesday (16).

Organised by Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, the conference brought firms together on the country estate for the first time.

If offers a chance for businesspeople to meet, as well as seminars on customer service and PR.

Mark Hannigan, the chamber’s operations chairman, said: “It was a bit of a risk moving to Wentworth Woodhouse this year, but it’s really paid off.

“It’s a nice, central location for Barnsley and Rotherham which could accommodate all of the stalls we wanted, inside and out.”

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue parked one of their engines in front of the house — alongside Sytner Sheffield BMW with their much sportier i8 coupe.

House guide David Allott said: “It seems to have gone very well. We’re happy and so are the chamber, so we’re hoping they come back.”
