Snow warning as Arctic air sweeps in

IT may well be coming up to the May Day bank holiday weekend but the country could be in for one last taste of winter this week as a blast of Arctic air sweeps in.

The Met Office said daytime temperatures will struggle to reach double figures with the possibility of showers turning to snow over high ground.

Overnight it will be cold enough for a frost with temperatures hovering around freezing.

The Met Office’s chief forecaster said: “On Wednesday there will be sunshine and wintry showers. Winds will ease, with a local night frost.”

He said it will remain cold for the rest of the week, with showers or longer spells of rain, perhaps with snow, mainly over high ground.
