Smoking materials in recycling bin 'caused fire at house'

A BLAZE outside a Thurnscoe property was caused by careless disposal of smoking materials, the fire service believes.

Firefighters were called to Houghton Road in Thurnscoe at about 5.25pm on Friday (26).

A fire service spokesperson said: “The fire caused damage to the exterior structure and also damaged a fence panel.

“Crews from Dearne left the scene at around 6pm and deemed the fire to have started accidentally.

“This fire looked to have been caused by careless disposal of smoking materials into a full recycling bin which was located against a conservatory.”
