Sky high aim for balloon artist Andrew

BALLOON artist Andrew Squire will be hoping he doesn’t get himself in a twist as he looks to defend his title of being the best in the country at his trade.

Andrew — who is known as Mista Twister — was crowned the UK Balloon Modeller of the Year for 2014 and 2015.

He will be hoping to see off competition from others across the country at this year’s competition in September.

Andrew (35), said: “I have been doing it as my full-time job for about ten years. “I started off as a semi-professional magician and juggler and that’s what set it all off.

“I was quite good at being able to remember the routines for making different sculptures and that’s the key to it really. If you don’t have a good memory then it’s going to be a struggle.”

Andrew, of Highfield Road, Swinton, works at children’s parties, weddings and corporate events across the borough.

He also voluntarily decorates the room for Bluebell Wood Children Hospice’s Christmas party every year.

Andrew — who has a daughter Ellie (12) and son Cullen (3) — was also crowned the British Balloon Convention Champion last year.
