Seven police officers and staff received commendations for their bravery.

Fourteen people in total will be given commendations after their names were nominated by colleagues for shortlisting at the awards nomination process.

The awards were presented at a short ceremony held at force headquarters by police and crime commissioner for South Yorkshire Dr Alan Billings, who congratulated the winners.

He said: “I wanted the opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and bravery of these officers.

“It was a pleasure to meet with the individuals who put themselves in danger and work exceptionally hard for the sake of others and consistently strive to make South Yorkshire safer on a daily basis.

“These are very difficult times and it is always a pleasure – and a humbling experience – to hear about the incidents officers attend and the true professionalism of everyone’s work and actions.”

Later this year, The Police and Partners Together Awards will take place, where the winners for the remaining commendations will be announced.
