SAFE@LAST’S stately afternoon at Wentworth Woodhouse

SIX stunning state rooms at Wentworth Woodhouse gave a striking back-drop to SAFE@LAST’S Be Gorgeous ladies’ day, in conjunction with the Rotherham Advertiser.

A catwalk show featuring Charity Chicks providing the best in pre-loved designer clothes took centre stage at the event run in aid of the Dinnington-based runaways charity.

Mexborough fashion retailer Vasey Valentine also showcased its fashion in the stately setting of Rotherham’s most iconic property on Sunday.

Christine Ayres, from Safe@Last, said: “This Be Gorgeous event will stand out in everyone’s memory because of the amazingly beautiful setting of the Wentworth Woodhouse Suite of State Rooms.

“The 233 guests plus exhibitors, fashion models, entertainers and volunteers gave generously of their time and money to support SAFE@LAST and I’m delighted the end result justified all the effort.”

Ladies attending the Be Gorgeous event were treated to a glass of bucks fizz prior to Rotherham Teachers’ Student Academy’s performance of  “Masquerade” from Phantom of the Opera.

The ladies then took their places in the Marble Salon, where blended colours of chair covers had been donated and dressed by Cover in Style of Rawmarsh.

After the opening address by Hilary Masseralla, founder of SAFE@LAST, an afternoon tea was supplied by Dine of Leeds followed by a talk about the house from guest speaker and head guide for Wentworth, Mr Bob Mortimer.

Throughout the day, ladies were able to browse the many exhibitor stands providing everything from vintage furniture to beauty products.

An auction to raise funds for SAFE@LAST saw a stunning cocktail gown donated by Maureen Blessed of Blessed Brides, Denaby, sold for £105.

A performance from The Ladybugs, a trio of three fabulous entertainers, brought the afternoon to a close.

Video and Memories also gave up their time to capture this amazing event on DVD.
