RSPCA condemns rabbit postbox prank

THE RSPCA has rapped “silly pranksters” for POSTING a pet rabbit into a pillar box.

The white rabbit — stolen from a house in Maltby — was discovered when a postman arrived to empty a postbox in Tickhill Road on Saturday.

With help from the RSPCA, the rabbit was returned to its owner, but the animal charity said the story could have had a much more serious ending.

“Fortunately the rabbit was fine and had no injuries despite its ordeal,” said a spokeswoman.

“We managed to trace the owner who said that the rabbit had been taken from its hutch in her garden.

“Clearly this was a silly prank that could have resulted in the rabbit being seriously hurt.

“If anyone knows anything about this incident they can contact the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.”
