ROTHERHAM welcomed a VIP visitor today when the Countess of Wessex arrived in the latest in a series of royal visits.

ROTHERHAM welcomed a VIP visitor today when Sophie, Countess of Wessex arrived in the latest in a series of royal visits.

The Countess, wife of Prince Edward, visited the United Multicultural Centre, in Carlisle Street this morning and  was due to performing the official opening of the Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice at North Anston

She is also scheduled  to tour the Sandvik Engineering, near Orgreave, and the Matrix Business Centre, Dinnington.

The latest royal visit comes after The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were guests of honour at the ground-breaking Advanced Manufacturing Nuclear Research Centre at Catcliffe last November.

And Rotherham’s next royal visit will come in July when the Duke of Kent visits expanding metals firm MTL and recycling company Sterecycle.
