Rotherham schools set to expand

PUPIL capacity at four schools will be increased as part of a £1.2 million capital building project.

Most of the Government cash—around £900,000—will go on four new classrooms at Flanderwell Primary.

It will make year groups 50 per cent bigger from 2013 and follows anger from parents at this year’s oversubscription chaos.

Treeton Primary’s intake will increase to 45 from 37 pupils thanks to a £200,000 extension project.

About £100,000 is being spent at Catcliffe Primary, where a new building will help ease pressure on accommodation from September.

And the intake at Bramley Grange will rise by five to 45 from September, 2013. The cash is from the Department for Education’s Basic Needs funding.
