Rotherham firm launches 'green' fire extinguisher

The patented environmentally friendly handheld tool sprays a superfine mist using purified water.

The UK first, developed by Jewel Fire Systems, has also been certified as safe for use on kitchen fat fires.

Sales manager Stephen Smith, from the Hellaby-based business, said: “It’s incredibly exciting to be launching this product.

“As well as being safer for users in offices, hotels, shops and any other place of work, the product causes no further residual or environmental damage to the surrounding areas, unlike current powders or foams. It is totally environmentally friendly.”

The spray’s tiny particles mean it can be used on more types of fire and reduces the need for multiple extinguishers.
