Rotherham deluge caught on video as flood waters rise!

WANNABE storm chasers got the chance to film some extreme weather when a sudden downpour brought flood waters to their doorstep.

Richard Codd and Antony Bayou from Team Katalyst, a voluntary youth organisation based on Wales Road, Kiveton, grabbed their video camera to record the results of a dramatic downpour this afternoon.

Richard, who got behind the camera when the heavens opened shortly after 2pm, revealed: “We got the call to say that the office was at risk from the water and we dashed down here to make it safe.

“The scene was amazing when we got here. There was water lapping against the front step of the office and the road was flooded from kerb top kerb.”

Richard said that he and Antony were ready to turn off the office’s electricity supply as they prepared for the worst, but when the rain stopped, the water subsided.

He added: “Our group is all about the media and I’ve always got a camera to hand.

“I’d love to be a storm chaser, following tornados in the States, but I never expected the weather to be so extreme so close to home.”
