Rotherham council house tenants can now own guns

RESIDENTS in council houses can now own guns after RMBC refreshed its tenancy agreement.

It follows the first review in eight years — the last was when Rotherham’s social housing was run by 2010 Ltd.

Cllr Dominic Beck, Cabinet member for housing, said: “Previously, the council didn’t allow tenants to hold firearms in their possession in a council house.

“That has been reviewed and it’s felt that’s not right and proper, providing the tenant has the necessary licence.”
