Rotherham businessmen welcome Budget

BUSINESS leaders in Rotherham have welcomed today’s budget as good for the borough’s economy.

Giving an immediate response to Chancellor George Osborne's Emergency Budget, Andrew Denniff, Policy and Communication Manager at Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, said: “From a business perspective, the budget can be viewed positively.

“Many of the issues raised by our members have been acknowledged by the Chancellor and the Government has shown that they are aware of the need to support the wealth creators. 

“It is businesses who will provide jobs and drive the economic recovery and support for businesses will include increases in National Insurance thresholds, reductions in Corporation Tax, small companies tax rate cuts, encouragement for new businesses in the regions and the introduction of a most-welcome banking levy.

“Generally speaking, the most impact will fall on the public sector and on those receiving state benefits, which was not unexpected.”
