The convicted armed robber and serial offender, who has reinvented himself in jail as an award-winning artist, sent the 80-year-old ex-miner and former soldier the unexpected greeting, as well as a signed calendar, after news of the shocking raid on his home in Maltby went global.
Tommy was left for dead by robbers who stole a safe containing his £30,000 life savings when they raided his home in Salisbury Road.
