Restaurant plan thrown out

PLANNING officers rejected a restaurant which would have served up 50 jobs—because it would not have been located in Rotherham town centre.

Fifties franchise Frankie and Benny’s hoped to build a restaurant at Parkgate Shopping but their application was thrown out without going before the council’s planning board.

Instead the decision was taken by delegated powers as the borough council claimed the dining venture would have harmed the town centre.
