£1.2m invested in surgery expansion

A £1.2 MILLION extension has been unveiled at a doctors’ surgery.

Wentworth and Dearne MP John Healey officially opened the new facilities at Market Surgery on Warehouse Lane in Wath.

The practice, which has 9,400 registered patients, has undergone a major transformation over the last year to almost double the size of the building.

Dr David Polkinghorn said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank patients and staff of the Market Surgery for their patience over the past months while the building work has been taking place.

“I am sure they will very quickly experience the benefits of the improved and extended facilities.”

The extension houses a number of new consulting rooms, a patient education room and the surgery has welcomed an additional part-time GP, Dr Donna Bridgwood.

The rest of the building has been refurbished throughout to provide improved reception and waiting facilities, consulting and treatment rooms.
