POLICE are this afternoon investigating the remains of a 'body' found in a garage believed to have been set of fire deliberately.

The grisly find was identified by firefighters when they went to tackle a blaze at block of garages on Broom Lane, Broom, at around 9.30am yesterday.

Detectives cordoned off the area and this morning a forensic anthropologist was examining the remains to establish whether or not they are human.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said that officers were treating the cause of the fire as suspicious.

She added: “We can confirm that we have found what appears to be some remains but at this stage we are not sure whether those are human or not.”
