Praise for Ferham school after "outstanding progress"

A school is making “outstanding progress” just seven months after being placed in special measures.

An Ofsted inspection in March slammed Ferham Primary, saying teaching was inadequate and children’s achievements low.

The school, which has a large number of pupils for whom English is an additional language, was said to be failing to challenge others.

But a 30 per cent jump in Year Six English exam results this summer has helped highlight the impressive turnaround.

A first monitoring visit by inspectors found that attendance, lessons and the Ferham Road school’s staff structure was improved.
