Power cut hits 500 homes in Brampton

MORE than 500 homes were left in the dark when a power cut hit Brampton on Wednesday.

A fault in an overhead line caused a one-minute blackout shortly after 4pm.

Power carrier Northern Powergrid restored the connection quickly, but further repairs were needed later in the day.

It was forced to disconnect 509 buildings in the S63 postcode at 6.15pm — service was not restored again until 7.28pm.

Home and street lights were switched off, plunging the area into total darkness.

A spokeswoman for Northern Powergrid apologised to customers and thanked everyone affected for their patience.
