Bassingthorpe Farm is a major part of Rotherham Borough Council’s target of adding 900 homes a year in the borough.

The site was removed from the green belt in 2014 following a lengthy battle with campaigners who wanted it to remain agricultural.

The authority and landowners Fitzwilliam Wentworth Estate have said that proposals will also include 11 hectares of employment land, a new school, shops, a pub and sports fields.
