Man who sexually abused toddler (3) jailed for five years

Paul Thomas (32), of Vicar Road, West Melton, pleaded guilty to sexual assault and was sentenced by Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday (16 September).

Thomas was also handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order which will restrict his contact with children upon release.

The crime happened in the Armthorpe area of Doncaster on July 3 and Thomas was arrested after the victim reported being sexually assaulted.

Detective Sergeant Nicola Hallam said: “The sexual abuse of a child is a horrific crime and I am relieved Thomas has accepted responsibility for his despicable actions.

“We acted swiftly to apprehend Thomas and bring him before the courts, further demonstrating our absolute commitment to the protection of children.”
