Man in court for Rotherham butcher shop murder

A 27-year-old man is due to appear in court today charged with the murder of Rotherham butcher Parvaiz Iqbal.

Emergency services were called to Mr Iqbal’s shop in Grosvenor Road, Eastwood, just before 2pm on October 15, where the body of 40-year-old Mr Iqbal was discovered.

Another 40-year-man was found seriously injured at the scene.

Eyewitnesses reporting seeing a man carrying a machete in the area.

Naeem Mehmood, of Herringthorpe Valley Road, Rotherham, has been charged with murder and attempted murder and will appear at Sheffield Crown Court this morning.
