Police probe drug Mexborough 'drug den'

POLICE are investigating allegations that cannabis is being sold to children as young as 15 in Mexborough.

Residents say they can smell cannabis outside on Schofield Street and in the nearby park.

One concerned local said: “I have witnessed this behaviour first hand from my own doorstep. The occupants have been buying and supplying dope from their property-not only to the young people who use Schofield Park, but to anyone who has a spare £10.

“They sell the drug from their own back door as well as from over their own back garden fence to teenagers as young as 15 and to their friends. You can smell the drug when using the park.”

A police spokeswoman said: “We are aware of the allegations of drugs activity that have been made at an address in Mexborough and are making further enquiries.”
