Police hunt man who attempted to lure teens

POLICE are hunting for an “Asian” male who tried to lure two teenage girls waiting at a bus stop into his car.

The alleged incident took place on Bawtry Road, Wickersley, at 4.45pm on Thursday (11) and police described it as “highly unusual”.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said the teenagers were at a bus stop on Bawtry Road near to the shops on the Tanyard, when a man asked them to get into his car.

The girls refused and the man then drove off down Bawtry Road towards Brecks.

The spokeswoman said: “The man is described as Asian, around, 40 years old, and he wore smart clothing and was driving a black saloon type car.”

Temporary detective sergeant Jamie Henderson urged anyone with information about the suspect to contact police.

He added: “This is a highly unusual incident in this area, however we want to make people aware of it and seek the public’s help in finding this man.”
